Council members for the city of Blue Mound met on Monday, Oct. 3, for their regular monthly meeting. Under new business, they discussed the need to replace a tire on the backhoe, as one is well-worn. Also, an electrical line has come loose from an electric pole and needs replaced. Members also discussed the need to excavate around three or four manholes while the weather is dry.

Mayor Russell Beth asked the council if it would be okay if the magazine that holds fireworks for the Fourth of July celebration were to be moved back to Blue Mound. The fireworks would only need to be stored for a few days leading up to the celebration. The magazine is currently located in a building in Iola. However, the storage will not be available next year. Beth included that the location would be in an undisclosed location, and would need to be approved by the fire marshal. Council agreed to the storage of fireworks within city limits.

In other business, the council approved the following items: minutes of the previous meeting, and payment of bills in the amount of $29,674.19.
