The Mound City Council held a special meeting on Monday, June 13, for the purposes of holding a condemnation hearing on property located at 218 Chestnut and to make a decision regarding policy for permits for beer gardens within the city.
Once the condemnation hearing was opened City Attorney Jess Randall spoke with the property owners who agreed the structure is unsafe, but noted they are having a hard time finding someone to tear it down that they can afford.
With the process not contested by the owners the council approved Resolution 2022-05 condemning the property and gave the owners 60 days to have it demolished. Council will review the process on Aug. 15, 2022.
The Council also approved ordinance 588 approving temporary permits for cereal malt beverages to be sold at an event in a beer garden with a permit of $25 and the permit must be acquired at least 10 days prior to the event.
