Wallace Reed Hook, 90, of Linn Valley, Kan., passed away on June 13, 2023, in Overland Park, Kan.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Fort Scott National Cemetery, 900 E. National Ave., Fort Scott, Kan., 66701. (Procession will line up at the front gate at 10:45 a.m.)

A Celebration of Life will be held following the service on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Linn Valley Community Church fellowship hall 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., 86 S. Linn Valley Dr., Linn Valley.

Wallace was born in Pittsburg, Kan., to Rev. Alan Wilson and Nina Edna Hook on Jan. 8, 1933. He graduated high school at Fort Scott, Kan. He married Joyce A. Wilkerson on June 16, 1952, in Independence, Kan. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Army 867th Artillery. He worked in construction, farming, HVAC and as the Linn Valley Codes Enforcer until retirement as well as being an avid K-State sports fan.

Wallace is preceded in death by his parents; his brother Thomas (Imogene Hook); son Wallace David Hook; daughter-in-law Doana Hook; grandsons Pfc. Jason Chafin and Justin Stewart.

Wallace is survived by his wife of 71 years, Joyce; his children Sharon (Vincent Feden) of Overland Park, Kan., James Hook of Cleveland, Mo., Susan (James Stice) of Benson, Ariz., Janell Hook of Hays, Kan., Rebecca (Michael Stewart) of Overland Park, Kan., 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his sister Coralyn (James Towner) of Raytown, Mo.; and brother Victor (Marilyn Hook) of Fredonia, Kan.; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Linn Valley Memorial Park at Linn Valley Memorial Park, 5175 Linn Valley Dr., Linn Valley, Kan. 66040

Wallace was a founding member of the Linn Valley Memorial Park. His passion for starting the park came about upon the loss of his grandson Pfc. Jason Chafin. With the other founding members, the park has grown to honor all those who serve in the military.
